Course Description
This course explores the nature of communication across cultures, the relationship between countries (nation states, information societies, and network societies), the social, cultural, and historical structures that separate them, the grounding of these experiences as cultural contexts, and how these factors define the communicative context of the situation. Included in these discussions is the concept of the social self and how the identity of a person is socially constructed. The expression of the cultural self is discussed within the context of language, tonal metaphors, and visual metaphors.
There are 15 online examinations; four position papers, and a final examination. Total value of points is 4,000
